Les Parisiennes

This lookbook by The White Pepper has me reaching for my wallet. I want just about everything. The sweet pink dress, oversized trench coat and sheepskin jacket are on top of my wishlist. What are your favourites?

Last week I spent a couple of days in Amsterdam for work. I didn't have much time to explore the city, but I managed to squeeze in a visit to supermarket Marqt. Most people buy their food without any thought, but I love exploring a supermarket. On holiday, it's one of my favourite things to do.
Marqt sells all kinds of food - there's a cheese stand, fish counter, bakery, an array of meat, fruit&vegs are piled up and  you can choose from aisles and aisles of fine groceries.
Real food that is produced with respect for nature, animals and humans. Can't argue with that...

Touch of time

Last weekend I went to the FoMu, here in Antwerp. The photography museum is located on 't Zuid, a neighbourhood with beautiful art nouveau buildings, fancy restaurants and trendy cafés. At the moment, there are four exhibitions on various themes. My favourite was definitely the Germaine Van Parys & Odette Dereze-expo. Germaine (1896-1983) was one of Belgian's finest photo journalists. Her sublime black-and-white pictures show important events of our cultural history, but always with a personal and human touch. Odette, her niece, followed in her footsteps and is safeguarding their precious archives until this day. If you're in the area, visit the museum and take some time to appreciate the work of these two extraordinary women. Girl power avant la lettre!

Happy birthday

This fall the Royal Academy of Antwerp is celebrating it's 350 years existence. Throughout the city there are several exhibitions showcasing works of the famous students, special events, art walks and artwork on the streets and squares. 2013 also marks the 50th birthday of the world-renowned Fashion Department. Since the graduation of the famous Antwerp Six it has been one of the most prestigious fashion schools in the world. I went to see the retrospective in the MoMu, which started off with the establishment of the course in 1963 by Mary Prijot. The curriculum, graduation shows, the careers of the alumni, the graphic design in fashion - the exhibition shows beautiful designs and leaves one feeling inspired. Must-see!
